Scholarship

The Magellan Circle Scholarship Program

With popular majors like psychology, communication and political science, SBS teaches more undergraduates than any other college on the UA campus. With recently imposed state budget cuts and tuition increases, many worthy students struggle to pay for their college education. Sponsoring a Magellan Scholar, you will be making a critical difference in the education and life of a promising student.

How can I support a Magellan Scholar?
As part of the Magellan Scholarship Program, $500 of your $1,500 gift will go directly to a Magellan scholar.

How are Magellan Scholars selected?
Undergraduate and graduate students with special talents or needs are recommended by their faculty mentors. The department head makes the final recommendation to the Dean. A committee chaired by the Dean makes the final selection.

How is the Magellan Scholarship program different from other scholarship programs?
With the Magellan Circle program, you meet both your Scholar and his/her faculty mentor at the annual Magellan Scholars gathering. The ability to interact with your Scholar and see how your money is helping another person is a special feature of this program.
