Homecoming 2004
This year, we celebrated homecoming with our alumni, both at our homecoming tent on the UA mall and at The Shanty, a fun Tucson pub.
We had lots of people stop by our tent, which was twice the size of last year's, and it still wasn't large enough to accommodate all of our units!
Our tent had professors and students to talk to, brochures, prize drawings, a book sale, and delicious empanadas from Mamma Llama's in Tucson.
Our annual bash at The Shanty, hosted by alumnus Bill Nugent, was also a lot of fun!
Our homecoming chair and speaker this year was Patty Weiss, a journalism alumna. Patty was the first woman evening newscaster in the state of Arizona. She has been an anchor for KVOA since 1975. She received her degree, cum laude, with honors in journalism, and minors in political science and economics. Patty is involved in a variety of community organizations. She serves on a number of advisory boards for the University of Arizona, including the journalism department, UA Presents, the psychiatry department, and the Institute for Children, Youth and Families.
Our student speaker was Jennifer Lum, a senior with a major in political science and a minor in journalism. She has a grade point average of 3.9. Jennifer serves as president of Pi Sigma Apha, UA's political science honorary, which was awarded best chapter of the year for 2003-2004.
