I have been working at NSF as a part-time Expert in the Division of Information and Intelligent Systems (IIS) since August 2008. I spent five weeks in October and November 2008 as Visiting Professor in the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics at the City University of Hong Kong. In January, Emily Bender and I presented a plenary session at the Annual Meeting of the Linguistic Society of America on Computational Linguistics in Support of Linguistic Theory.

Some other things I've been working on recently include:

My contribution "Opportunities at NSF" in the section entitled "Keeping Science Moving in Tight Times" in the September 2009 issue of the Association for Psychological Science Observer.

Just how big are natural languages, to appear in a special issue of The Linguistic Review.

Slides of Quantification and modality (b/w pdf version) presented at the University of Arizona on 13 March 2009. Abstract. An addendum on Relations between quantifier-creating operators and quantifiers themselves.

My page on academia.edu.

Finally, check out Electric Fun Stuff, my son David's cool company.
