The University of Arizona

College of SBS Departments: Anthropology

The staff in the Department of Anthropology is a unique group of people who work synergistically together as a team, with the education, welfare and concerns of students as their top priority. These 11 people provide support every day to nearly 300 undergraduate majors, almost 200 graduate student majors, 33 voting faculty, and 44 affiliated faculty, but they are always willing to take on extra work to benefit students. Through the creation and administration of the Anthropology Silent and Live Auction "Traditions, Transitions, Treasures" held in October 2001, they raised more than $30,000 to create two new scholarships for the Anthropology Department. In recognition of their efforts they received two awards in 2002: the Outstanding Staff Team Award from the University of Arizona and a similar award from the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. In addition to their regular duties they are now planning the administration of a three-day event (March 30th, 31st, and April 1st 2006) to mark the Department's 90th Anniversary Celebration. Please take a moment to learn about these dedicated and hard-working individuals.
