Personal Statement

My research interests have centered around words: their meanings and how their senses can be extended through metaphor; their relationships to other words, the structure of vocabularies, comparative lexicology; and more recently, creative neologisms, especially blends. My methodology is empirical, and I uses questionnaires, texts, observations, and more recently lexical decision tasks. I am currently working on a revised and updated version of Wine and Conversation.
